I just finished my second week of student teaching and I’m still loving it. I’m in a Life Skills classroom with elementary-aged children with varying disabilities. Their struggles have made me rethink the things I’ve dwelled on within my own life, and suddenly those things appear so small.
On the other hand, I have way more appreciation for the support people have shown Jacob. Not all children are afforded the kind of support that allows them to triumph over their difference. Remember our goal is acceptance, not just tolerance. Support one another and always look for that opportunity to see the view from another’s eyes.
