My name is Jatin Nayyar and I was involved as a Youth Advocate for the NJCTS 2016-2020. I Attended George Washington University from 2020-2024 graduating with a BS in Business Administration with a concentration in sports management and a minor in communications. I am currently a Corporate Business Development Representative at HireVue.
I just graduated from GW in May and moved to New York in August to start work. In September of 2023 GW Today reached out and did a story about myself and my life with Tourettes while being an amateur boxer at the same time. NBC News ended up reaching out and did a story on me. The links to my stories are HERE and HERE
TS affected my life in many ways. I have been hospitalized more times than I can count, daily pain, stressing over people noticing your tics, TS has made me feel vulnerable and in pain all the time, but I have flipped it to use it as a strength. Without TS I would not be as good of a son, brother, employee, friend, etc.
I am an amateur boxer have fought 4 times so far since 2020 training 6 days a week around 3 hours a day, also am a boxing coach (captain of the GW Boxing team during college), have my own org called Just A Label that promotes mental health and disability awareness, enjoy fashion, anything outdoors, sports (BIG NY Giants fan), watching boxing, working out, hanging out with friends/family.
NJCTS gave me the voice I didn’t know I had which has let me spread my knowledge to others in need. I accepted my Tourettes after being a member, I learned the beauty of being vulnerable and sharing my life experiences to others.
To celebrate 20 years of NJCTS we will be showcasing 20 stories of adults with TS who were once involved in the organization and now all grown up! Stay tuned as we share all of these incredible and successful stories!
