On Tuesday, my daughter Emily had the wonderful opportunity to be a part of the taping of News12 New Jersey’s television show “12 To Your Health.” The subject was coping with Tourette Syndrome in a school environment, which is perfect since back-to-school time is just a few weeks away for high school and college students!

Emily is getting set to be a senior in high school (where has the time gone?!), and she’s dealt with annoying stuff at school because of her TS along the way. It’s not as bad for her now as it was when she was younger, though, and that’s because she’s been such a great advocate on behalf of herself, other teenagers with Tourette and young children with the disorder. I’m so proud of her!

It’s interesting for her (and for me!) to hear about other people’s experiences with Tourette Syndrome, and that’s what makes the taping of this segment so exciting and special. So definitely watch her and Dr. Tolga Taneli, a child and adolescent psychiatrist at the New Jersey Medical School in Newark, talk about TS for about 7 minutes on “12 To Your Health.” It’ll be worth your time!

You can watch the show up to 10 times this weekend if you’re in New Jersey:
