It is Tourette Syndrome Awareness Month from May 15 to June 15. Today, I would like to raise awareness about the co-morbid disorders that often accompany it, in particular, due to it being summer, Sensory Processing/Integration Disorder.
Buggito is hypersensitive. It is hot to the rest of us, but to him, he feels as though he has a fever (though his temperature is normal). To help combat the overheated feeling when we can’t get to the pool, he lays in front of the fans with a cold rag around his neck in nothing but his skivvies. And in the evening, he waters the garden and holds the sprayer up into the air so it will rain down on him.
What does everyone else with an SPD kid do to help combat the heat?
