Facing a new TS, ADHD, OCD & anxiety diagnosis

My name is Vanessa, and my 7 year old daughter, Angelina was recently diagnosed with Tourettes, ADHD, OCD, anxiety, and a possible language processing delay. Her symptoms are on the mild side.  I am new to all this and I have many questions. Talking to other parents going through the same thing is the best way to learn about all this.

  1. Vanessa, I have found that diet plays a big picture in many of the conditions your child has. Sugar often times is the culprit . Sugar seems to be added to most things, especially the food that kids like.

      • Our six-year old son had what we suspected was Tourette’s syndrome, and after many hours of research, we decided to go with an interactive pediatrician to seek treatment for his tics. The doctor did a series of blood tests and identified several foods that his body had an adverse reaction to. The tests also showed that my son had several vitamin deficiencies so the doctor placed him on vitamin supplements.

Within two weeks of taking the supplements, his tics decreased by about 90%. And after two months of taking the vitamin supplements, our son’s tics have decreased so much that they are almost non-existent, and barely noticeable when they do occur. I am not sure if this will work for your child, but I wanted to share our story. We also switched to mostly organic foods and decreased sugar from our son’s diet since we noticed that sugar was a major trigger for his tics.

        • What is an interactive pediatrician ? Like a naturopath?

Which tests did the doc do?

  2. Hi Vanessa. I am the mom of two children with TS, generalized anxiety disorder and rage disorder. Both were diagnosed at 5 and are now 11 and 8. I’d love to offer you support. I got through the early months/years after my eldest’s diagnosis thanks to other TS parents. Please reach out anytime: emily@golden-resources.com.

  3. Hi Vanessa. My 7 1/2 year old son was recently diagnosed with TS, OCD, anxiety and possible ADHD as well. It’s only been about two months since his diagnoses and we are still learning. Although I can think back and he’s had tics and OCD issues for at least a year. I am learning that for him he has good days and bad days. We recently withdrew him from school to homeschool (I stay at home). He was in trouble constantly at school for what appeared to be misbehavior but in reality it’s all of the above.

  4. Vanessa my son has also just been diagnosed with TS, he has had motor and vocal tics for as long as i can remember. Kids with TS usually also have Adhd, Ocd, Austim and anxiety. My son also has Non verbal learning disorder, Anxiety, Odd, Mood disorder and Ocd traits. I know its alot and can be overwhelming, but with the right, teachers ,drs and therapists by your side that really helps.
