Tourette Syndrome to be featured on News 12’s weekly “12 To Your Health” show on August 4 and 5

NJCTS Youth Advocate Emily Fleischman and New Jersey Medical School child psychiatrist Dr. Tolga Taneli will discuss the neurological disorder with host Dr. Derrick DaSilva

 

EDISON – Tourette Syndrome will be featured as the main segment on News 12 New Jersey’s “12 To Your Health” show, hosted by Dr. Derrick DaSilva, on Saturday and Sunday,
August 4 and 5. Taking part in this segment on TS will be Dr. Tolga Taneli, a child and adolescent psychiatrist at the New Jersey Medical School in Newark, and New Jersey Center for Tourette Syndrome & Associated Disorders (NJCTS) Youth Advocate Emily Fleischman.

On the show – which will air at 6:30 a.m., 9 a.m., 10:30 a.m., noon and 1:30 p.m. both days – Taneli will answer questions such as “What is Tourette Syndrome?” “What are the symptoms?” and “How is it treatable?” Fleischman will talk about her personal experience with Tourette, her connection to NJCTS and her book, “Emily’s Tic,” which was released by Amazon.com and other publishing outlets in February.

Fleischman also will address questions such as “When did you first notice you might have had Tourette Syndrome?” “What is it like?” “Have you dealt with ignorance or negative reactions from your peers?” and “What do you recommend for other young people with Tourette?”
