When: | June 8-10, 2007 |
Where: | YMCA’s Camp Bernie Lebanon Township, Hunterdon County, New Jersey |
Details: | The Tourette Syndrome Association of New Jersey will host its annual Camp Bernie Family Fun Weekend. Over 100 families dealing with Tourette Syndrome will come together to enjoy canoeing, horseback riding, fishing, wall climbing, hiking, and camaraderie. Self-esteem and team building activities, workshops and discussion groups for both kids and parents will be offered. Special teen activities and a talent night are also planned.
For kids, it’s a chance to make new friends who struggle with the same day-to-day challenges, learn coping skills, and have some fun. For parents, it is an opportunity to meet other parents who understand and share experiences as well as attend valuable workshops on advocacy and bullying. The Tourette Syndrome Association of New Jersey and its affiliate organization, the New Jersey Center for Tourette Syndrome, Inc., support the needs of families affected by Tourette Syndrome by offering family support programs, medical, psychological and advocacy services for individuals with TS; public education, training for medical professionals and New Jersey’s educational community; as well as spearheading scientific research projects, to assist in finding new treatments and, potentially, a cure.
