NJCTS mourns loss of Congressman Donald Payne, a noted Tourette Syndrome ally

The Tourette Syndrome community lost an important ally on March 6.

Congressman Donald Payne (D-NJ10) passed away at age 77. Rep. Payne was a senior member of the House Education and Workforce Committee, and just months ago, signed on as co-sponsor of bill H.R. 3760 — the Collaborative Academic Research Efforts for Tourette Syndrome Act of 2011.

NJCTS is honored to have received his support, not only because he represents the interests of New Jersey families with TS, but also for his compassion that dates back to his years as a teacher in the Newark Public Schools. Our sincerest condolences go out to Congressman Payne’s family, friends and close colleagues at this time.
