Guest Speakers Announced for Academy

In addition to our clinicians and mentors, this year’s Virtual NJCTS Tim Howard Leadership Academy, on August 6 and 7, will feature amazing special guests and performers who have all lived with Tourette Syndrome.

Chad Juros is an international entertainer/speaker who is lucky enough to share his magic and motivational message across the world. Finding the “magic” in your life is critical to living your best life and being your best self. Hear an inspiring story of survival and strength, wrapped into the entertainment of a virtual magic show. Chad has been featured on ABC’s Good Morning America, The CW’s Penn & Teller FOOL US, and A&E’s Criss Angel Mindfreak.

Comedian Pamela Rae Schuller is relentlessly funny. Her observations on disability, mental illness, dating, family, and past misadventures have led to brutally honest confessions about what it’s like being 4 foot 6 (and a half) and having a whole lot of Tourette Syndrome. A disability and mental health advocate and professional stand-up comedian, Pamela’s stories of growing up in a body she had no control over are engaging, powerful, a little bit heart-wrenching, and unapologetically funny. During this year’s Academy, Pamela will not only bring her comedic talent, she will be conducting a workshop on crafting your message.

Tim Howard is widely considered to be one of the greatest goalkeepers in American soccer history. He was also diagnosed with TS and OCD in the sixth grade. An outspoken advocate for TS, Tim partnered with NJCTS to create the Leadership Academy. He is currently a minority owner and goalkeeper with Memphis 901 FC. He will once again be on hand to speak about his journey and answer questions from the audience.

This year’s Academy program will increase the participants’ understanding of their disorders and provide opportunities to explore and identify their strengths, while connecting with peers in the Tourette Syndrome community. They will also have the opportunity to meet and hear the stories of successful young adults who will serve as mentors, guiding participants on how to successfully tell their stories! Regardless of where participants are in with their comfort of self-advocacy and understanding and accepting their diagnoses, the Academy has something to offer everyone in advancing to the next level with confidence, understanding, and resilience.
