Fundraising and race prizes announced for 3rd annual Youth Advocate 5K

Top fundraising team and top two fundraising individuals will win prizes, as will top male and female race finishers

MENDHAM – The 3rd annual Youth Advocate 5K Family Run/Walk (New Jersey Walks For TS) is just over two months away. But it’s never too early to begin forming teams, fundraising and getting in the competitive spirit for this year’s event, which will take place rain or shine on Saturday, November 3, at Borough Park in Mendham! That’s why we’re introducing some “incentives” to help get you started!

On the fundraising trail, the team which raises the most money will receive two $50 gift cards from AMC Theatres, as well as a $100 restaurant gift card so the entire team (or part of it, at least!) can enjoy a meal together and toast their success! To help teams amass even more donations, the opportunity to fundraise will continue through Friday, November 16.

There will be two individual fundraising prize categories: Children (under 18) and adult (18 and over). The individual who brings in the most money in each of these categories will receive a $50 gift card for Amazon.com.

On race day, we will be awarding trophies to the top male and female finishers in as-yet-determined age groups. We also will be bringing back the Top Banner Contest, with the team that creates the best banner receiving a trophy and every other participating team earning a certificate of achievement!

We believe these prizes will help contribute to what we hope will be an amazing day! Before we get to November 3rd, however, there are several ways in which you can partner with NJCTS to make this year’s walk an even bigger success:

  • Register for the walk! You can do so as an individual or as a member of a team. Or, you can form your own team! The more people that sign up for the walk, the more fun it will be! Registration is open now, and you can save 10 percent off the registration price by signing up online before October 31!
  • Donate to the walk! Fundraising is an important aspect of this event, and the best way to do so is to form your own personal fundraising page on our main fundraising website and get people to sponsor you! Prizes will be awarded to the top fundraisers!
  • Help us find sponsors for the walk! This year, we are offering a “Levels of Sponsorship” form that can be used at your place of employment or local businesses to help raise money for the walk. This would be in addition to your personal fundraising efforts, but any corporate or individual sponsorships that are obtained will count toward an individual’s fundraising total — providing the corporation or individual mentions their name. And remember, all funds received will support the statewide education outreach and peer advocacy programs of NJCTS – meaning kids all over New Jersey will benefit!
  • Help us publicize the walk! Feel free to utilize our advertisement flyer for the Youth Advocate 5K Family Run/Walk at your place of employment, house of worship, in e-mails to family member or friends, or on your social media platform of choice. If you would like additional information about our walk or our organization and the services we provide, please contact our office at 908-575-7350 or visit our website at www.njcts.org.

This year’s event also will feature a family picnic immediately following the 5K. Participants should bring a lunch and comfortable chairs, and stay for fun, music and entertainment. Check-in on November 3 begins at 8:30 a.m., followed by warm-ups at 9:30 a.m. and the 5K at 10 a.m.
