Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD) is one of the most commonly diagnosed disorders in children and adolescents. It is also one of the most commonly misdiagnosed and misunderstood disorders affecting both children and adults. In this talk, we will delve into the signs and symptoms of ADHD, the critical concept of executive functions, issues in who gets diagnosed and why, and what ADHD really feels like. We will also talk about the important yet often overlooked ways that ADHD, especially when undiagnosed or untreated, negatively impacts individuals across their lifespan. Lastly, we will cover some of the different treatments, strategies, and approaches that can be effective in helping individuals with ADHD manage their executive functioning difficulties.
