Celebrating Excellence and Advocacy at the NJCTS Awards and Scholarship Luncheon

The New Jersey Center for Tourette Syndrome and Associated Disorders (NJCTS) proudly celebrated its annual Awards and Scholarship Luncheon, honoring a new class of inspiring Youth Advocates and recognizing exceptional academic, professional, and community achievements. The event was a moving tribute to perseverance, advocacy, and leadership.

Honoring the 2025 Youth Advocate Graduates

This year, NJCTS recognized 14 graduating Youth Advocates whose work has made a lasting impact on their communities and the broader conversation around Tourette Syndrome (TS). These remarkable young leaders have spent years educating others, challenging stigma, and empowering individuals living with TS.

Professional Excellence Awards

NJCTS also recognized outstanding professionals who have gone above and beyond in their dedication to individuals with Tourette Syndrome and associated disorders.

Healthcare Professional of the Year
Dr. Jeremy Lichtman
Dr. Lichtman was honored for his exceptional compassion, and dedication to improving the lives of those with TS. Currently leading the NJCTS medical advisory committee, Dr. Lichtman facilitates our family support group, presents and consults at the Leadership Academy, and frequently hosts webinars and faculty in-services.

Educator of the Year
Donna DeTata
An unwavering advocate in the classroom, Donna DeTata has shown remarkable commitment to supporting students with TS. Her efforts have created safe, understanding, and empowering learning environments where every student, including Tristan, who nominated her for this award, can thrive.

The NJCTS luncheon also spotlighted the remarkable fundraising efforts that fuel programs and outreach year-round.

A Celebration of Strength and Community

The luncheon brought together families, supporters, and NJCTS staff in a shared celebration of community. It was not just a day of recognition, but one of reflection and inspiration.

“Every honoree here today represents what is possible when we lead with empathy, educate with purpose, and advocate with passion,” said Hilary Kruchowy, NJCTS Executive Director. “These young people and professionals are shaping a brighter, more inclusive future.”

As the 2025 honorees move into new chapters—whether in college, careers, or continued advocacy—their legacy at NJCTS remains strong. Their efforts have already made a profound difference, and their journey is just beginning.
