NJCTS Global TS Teen Summit

Saturday, February 26, 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Join us for this wonderful opportunity for teens with Tourette Syndrome and tic disorders to connect and share experiences. Whether you are newly diagnosed or have been on this journey for some time, this is an opportunity to ask questions about high school, college, and beyond, get tips on fostering healthy relationships with family, and a chance to gain a community of peers who can relate to your struggles–and your successes!

Session 1
School Transitions: Setting Yourself up for Success in High School and Beyond
It is often difficult to know how to best navigate high school, and setting yourself up for success means finding support through different phases of development and responsibility. Please join several young adults and teens as they share their experiences navigating this journey and the best ways they set themselves up for success in high school and beyond.

Session 2
Positive Family Relationships: Tips and Strategies for Children and Parents
There’s no question that receiving a TS diagnosis impacts your friendships and relationships with your family, whether or not you have family members who share the diagnosis. It can also be difficult to navigate with extended family. Please join some NJCTS teens and young adults for an inside look at how they coped with the diagnosis within their families and maintained, or built, healthy relationships.

  • Each panel discussion will be followed by breakout sessions for further discussion
  • A break will be given between sessions for lunch
  • The panel will feature teens and college students who have volunteered to lead the discussions
  • The event is recommended for ages 13-17
