Looking for the Q&A following the webinar.

Lisa F-C. The Q & A following the webinar was live until we ran out of time. This is the place to ask additional questions that were not covered in the Q&A. Dr. Schneider will respond over the next 7 days.

1. How do you know the difference between a child with EF disorder and one who had parents who did not teach adequate self-control or listening skills?

Q 2. The skills you describe seem to be common among every person. Why is this considered a “disorder”? I know many, many people who have these issues to varying degrees. They are not considered ill.

Q 3. How do EF and sensory processing disorders correlate?

Q 4. What strategies do you recommend to improve selective attention or filtering?

Q 5. What kind of support does a college student with EF need? (vs. what may be provided in HS)

Q 6. Please expound on how consequences don’t alter time management – how does student just say, “to heck with it,” and not do anything – more explanation of the psychology…

EF/ Autism -can it co exist? if so what ar ethe modifications that we need to look into?

EFD may well be the missing piece for my child with Aspergers, fetal alcohol exposure, ADHD…pre-conceived IEP’s do not address the needs she has, nor does she fit perfectly into any one classification/diagnosis. An IEP that included the many suggestions from your webinar would do well. I realize each state is different (I’m in Jersey), but is EF disorder a DSM-IV diagnosis and has it been used as a classification for children in school?
