In our webinar we learned approaches and strategies that enable educators (teachers, paraprofessionals, school nurses, guidance counselors, child study team members and others) to create a learning environment that supports the social, emotional and intellectual development of all students in the educational environment. We also leared about peer education and classroom management.

  • Q: My 7 year old son was recently diagnosed with mild ts. I have spoke with his teacher and the principal to inform them. His tics seem to be under control. Is it still recommended that he be evaluated?
  • Is this a tic or ADHD! The student continually talks and makes other kids laugh, then I send him out of the room for a time out. He is very silly about the whole thing. And this can happen 3 or 4 times during a forty minute class. What else can I do? He has TS and I’m wondering if he has ADHD too?
  • Q: I asked how teachers can best present an atmosphere of fairness while NOT embarrassing the student needing services and accommodations. Could you be more specific with the “Fair is not always equal”. That is not enough for students who are embarrassed by having reduced spelling lists, extra time to complete tests, and study guides or notes provided for them. I’m referring specifically to middle school students.
